I See Ghosts, Lillstreet Art Center, Chicago, IL, June 16 - 30, 2025

"I See Ghosts" examines the idea of God and faith through the lens of Christianity, drawing from my experience of being raised Catholic. The exhibition explores an internal tension with religion and reflects on the human desire to seek comfort in a supernatural presence.

I See Ghosts / 2025 / ceramic / 17 x 14 x 19 inches (L x W x H)

"I See Ghosts" depicts a ghost-like figure lying on a bed, with its eyes extending outward on long columns. Through this piece, I ask what it means to believe in what I see or what I don't see, contemplating the relationship between perception and belief.

In God We Thrust / 2025 / ceramic / 25 x 16 x 11 inches (L x W x H)

"In God We Thrust" speaks of the irresistible power religion can have, considering how people can be obsessed with the notion of God for better or for worse.

Nunsense / 2025 / ceramic / 16 x 16 x 19 inches (L x W x H)

"Nunsense" draws its form from the shape and color of dresses worn by nuns in Catholic churches. The title of the piece reflects my doubt in the existence of a higher entity beyond this human world.

Hocus Focus / 2024 / ceramic / 9 x 9 x 8 inches (L x W x H)

“Hocus Focus” explores the illusory effects of colorful, repetitive spirals, with the form alluding to the image of the body.
