Magic Show, Lillstreet Art Center, Chicago, IL, July 15 - August 2, 2024

In Solo Exhibition, “Magic Show,” I explore the tension between the urge to reveal one's corporeal desires and the simultaneous impulse to conceal them. Through a variety of ceramic objects, I construct a theatrical environment that embodies the sleight of hand and illusion of a magic show.

I Saw You / 2024 / ceramic / 11 x 10 x 18 inches (L x W x H)

“I Saw You” comprises four different ceramic parts assembled into a cohesive larger structure. The hanging blue "saw" and the eyeball with elongated orange nerves contribute to the wordplay of the title “I Saw You.”

Nice to Meat You / 2024 / ceramic / 13 x 15 x 40 inches (L x W x H)

“Nice to Meat You” consists of three boxes stacked on each other that can be disassembled. The form is inspired by boxes used in magic tricks, which create the illusion of separating body parts.
